Dana Point Ca, 17th March 2003

Kicking off the local tournament fishing season is the 2nd annual Dana Point Halibut Tournament which had to be rescheduled to this weekend March 22/23rd due to last weekends 2 day Small Craft advisory forcing a postponement.

The successful 1st Annual Halibut tournament last year saw this big 33.8lb Halibut win and walk away with the top honors caught by local Dana Point resident John Yancey fishing aboard "Team Raptor". Team Raptor are out to defend their local title after taking the overall place, 4th Place and big fish category. With some big halibut coming out of Dana Point these last two weeks from some locals like this big 35,5lb halibut caught by Jim Lavin fishing on his boat JerseyBro with his grandson Gregory ( Pic attached) and Tim Heitkemper fishing  aboard his boat Pilar ( pic Attached) will surely challenge the competition.

Current points leader in the Halibut Championship Series is Brian Yoshida fishing on his boat Pukahad seen here with two of his 3 winning fish (pic attached) will be out to retain his points lead and challenge the local boys.
Entries are still open for all anglers due to the postponement for any new anglers wishing to enter this weekends tournament to pit their skills against the field. Entry fee is $60.00 per angler, rules and entry forms can be located on the website www.finnseeker.com or Tel (949) 263-4118
