This two day tournament has been changed whereby all mako's over 100lbs will qualify for the cash and prizes. The team that
releases the most mako's will win the $3000.00 over the two days for their efforts.

Dana Fuel Docks will provide free shuttle service to all tournament boats delivering all your needs, Ice, beer, food, chum  restaurants, car etc we have several small boats available for this service so dockside service is ensured.

Entry Agreement: 

Participants agree that in consideration to be bound by and comply with all tournament rules and regulations as published and amended. It is understood that all participants enter at their own risk and FinnSeeker it's administration, it's civilian staff, any individual or legal entity, any public, semi-public or private administration that has contributed in any way to the preparation, composition or promulgation of FinnSeeker, the tournament and of any related information or documentation, hereby disclaim any overall liability arising from any inappropriate actions, furthermore, neither Finnseeker, nor members of it's International Staff shall be held liable for any financial or other consequences whatsoever arising from such inappropriate actions and damages. Moreover, Finnseeker reserves the right to initiate any legal action it shall deem necessary. FinnSeeker undertakes no responsibility for any losses. 

The consultation or use of FinnSeeker shall automatically imply full acceptance of the above disclaimer of liability and as the boat owner/Captain you accept full and all liability and responsibilities caused. 

For allowing my participation in this activity under the terms set forth herein and in the Tournament rules participants on behalf of themselves, and on behalf of their heirs, administrators, personal representatives, or assigns, do agree to hold harmless, release, and discharge Finnseeker, the sponsors, their owners, agents, employees, officers, directors, representatives, assigns, members, owners of premises, affiliated organizations, insurers, and others acting on their behalf, hereinafter collectively referred to as Associate(s), of and from all claims, demands, causes of action, and legal liability, whether the same be known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, due to Finnseeker's and/or its Associates' ordinary negligence and participants do further agree that, participants shall bring no claims, demands, actions and causes of action, and/or litigation against the Finnseeker and its Associates whatsoever, as stated above in this clause, for any economic and/or non-economic losses due to bodily injury, death, or property damage sustained by me in relation to the operation of the Tournament.

Entry Rules and Fees:
The tournament entry fee is $ 600.00 per team and no checks after July 10th 2008. USD $ 700.00 per Team cash if entry is after the 10th July 2008. At least one team member must attend the Captains briefing or you will be disqualified automatically and all money forfeited. Tournament waiver must be signed by all team members and handed in at the Captains meeting.

Releasing Mako
The most tagged and released Mako will earn the top release boat  $3000.00 over the two days

Big MAKO Min Weight:
Mako min weight of 100 lbs. or 70 inches. If the mako meets the min 70 inches and not the min weight we will not disqualify or penalize the fish . ANY FISH WEIGHED UNDER  70 inches  WILL BE DISQUALIFIED .

Release rules:
The team will be required to photo the released fish with the leader in hand with the official tournament camera's provided.  Leader or swivel must be in the hand and in the photo when taking the photo of the fish ( No exceptions or this will NOT count !) 

Cash Prizes:
Winners will be awarded their cash prizes based on the number of entrants in each division and daily jackpots entered. Cash prizes are awarded based from the number of entries and jackpot totals. 1st Place 50% , 2nd Place 30 % and 3rd place 20 % of  the entry fees- NO TOURNAMENT EXPENSES WILL BE DEDUCTED.  Jackpots are 100% cash back winner takes all.

The 2008 Mako Madness Tournament is 100% money back sponsored by Finnseeker. No cash is deducted from any entry fees, tournament expenses or daily jackpots.  Finnseeker will conduct this tournament at its own expense and have included a special prize category.

General Rules:
A grid map will be provided and all teams/Captains or a team member will notify tournament control immediately by radio when a fish is hooked up and again when the fish is boated or released. The team will be responsible to follow tournament control instructions for verification and/or/a tournament boat/spotter plane will confirm this. All boats must be in the Dana Point Harbor by 6.00pm Saturday and 5.00pm Sunday or the team will be disqualified and not permitted to continue in the tournament. This is the Team and Captains responsibility to weigh or be in the harbor at 6.00pm Saturday, no exceptions. Weigh in will stay open until all fish are weighed provided you made the daily deadline cut off time and in the harbor.

All fish will be weighed in at the Dana Point Fuel Docks, fish, angler, leader, rod and reel must accompany the fish to the scales on the same boat the fish was caught on. (no exceptions)

All boats may not leave the harbor until 6.00am both days shotgun start, No lines in the water until 6.00am (chumming is permitted) every boat must have a visual confirmation from tournament control prior to leaving each day, a failure to do so is immediate disqualification. A Roll Call at 12.00 noon each day will be held and every team must check-in visually when they return to the harbor each day before the designated stop fishing posted times. 

IGFA tournament rules will apply in the tournament unless specifically modified by the rules committee. Teams & Captains will be responsible for all payments, moneys and entries. Captains and each teams members are responsible for all members following all rules and tournament regulations.

Tournament rules will also apply as amended or laid out at the Captain's meeting.

Teams shall consist of any number of anglers and Channel 19 will be the 1st tournament control channel for communication. Radio silence to be observed unless an emergency ,hook up or release. All radio communication will be permitted between boats but not on the tournament channel.

No firearms are permitted and no fish to be shot !

SPECIAL RULE:
If there are no fish weighed in, caught or released that day or for the whole tournament all team entries will be placed into a hat and a drawing will take place
1st- 3th place, this includes the jackpots. (at the awards dinner is still  TBD )

TACKLE: IGFA rules will apply.

Disqualification's :
* Fishing before Start Fishing 6.00am
* Any foreign substance in the fish, on or outside including ice
* Teams caught communicating with spotter planes or commercial boats
* Boats are not permitted to come within 500 yards of each other unless given permission by tournament control or fishing beyond the 55 mile radius.
* Fishing without a license 
* If caught breaking the rules the Captain of the team and team members including the boat will be banned from any further participation immediately from this tournament.
* Additionally if there was a placed fish or most releases by the disqualified team, all money is to be returned back to the tournament without exception.
* Not checking in visually before start fishing with tournament control each morning and each afternoon as required.
* Not having each team member sign and hand in the tournament waiver before start fishing/even angler changes are required to have a waiver signed
   before you leave the harbor (no exceptions)
* Not handing in your tournament issued camera and release forms/capture forms at the end of each day 
* Failure to pass or take a polygraph test by any Captain or team members if requested.

Camera policy:
Each team entered in all divisions will be provided with an official tournament camera or camera's to be used to photograph and document catches and releases. These will be picked up at the start each morning from 5.00 am roll call before departing. All camera's to be handed in when you return to the harbor and property of the tournament and officials.

Please note and remember this is a sporting tournament amongst friends and we emphasize SPORTSMANSHIP !

Capt Meeting : Friday Night 18th July 2008 @ 6.00pm - 7.00pm Dana Point Fuel Docks 

Tournament:  Saturday 19th July 2008. Boats must all line up for the 6.00am shotgun start each day . Start Fishing lines in at 6.00 am - visual check in required or you will be disqualified (all boats to be back in the harbor by 6pm Saturday inside the 5 mile bouy and must check in or will be disqualified. )
                       Sunday 20th July 2008. Boats must all line up for the 6.00am shotgun start each day and start Start Fishing at 6.00am after you have visually checked in, (all boats to be back in the harbor by 5.00 pm Sunday and must check in or will be disqualified. )

Participation:  Participants must comply with all applicable local, state, federal and international fish and game laws, rules and regulations, including, but not limited to size limits and possession of valid license(s)/permit(s) for all waters fished.

Participants agree to be bound by the terms of these Tournament Rules ("Rules").

The nominal sharing of expense by Participants is not considered operating a boat for hire.

All fish entered into the Tournament must have been hooked, fought and landed exclusively by the Participant on rod, reel, hook and line in compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and international fish and game laws, rules and regulations.

No frozen (or previously frozen), spoiled, gutted, altered, or mutilated fish will be eligible for entry.

Prize-winning participants are responsible for any and all applicable taxes and/or licensing fees.

If a Participant under 18 years of age wins a prize, their legal guardian over 18 years of age will receive the prize in their behalf.

No vessel entered in the tournament may be involved in the handing off or receiving of anything from another vessel whether that vessel is entered in the touramet or not, or any entity of any sort including bait receivers. The rules Committee may choose to grant special permission IN ADVANCE to waive this rule if someone's personal safety or health is at risk.

There will be no mandatory pollygraph but all Participants, including minors and their legal guardians, agree to submit to a polygraph test, if a protest is filed or when requested by a member of the Tournament Staff, for purposes of determining eligibility of Participants or fish presented for entry into the Tournament. Failure to submit to or pass a polygraph test shall result in immediate disqualification of the entire team and all money/entry fees/prizes forfeited. Participants agree that if any team member fails the polygraph test, they, the team and its team members accept and will all be liable for the cost of each failed polygraph test ($500.00 each participant) The tournament will only cover expenses for the polygraph.  

Any protest must be presented in writing to the chairman of the Rules Committee before closing of the official weigh station on the day of the alleged infraction. The protest will be ruled on by the committee as soon as is feasibly possible. All protest letters must be accompanied with $500.USD cash, which will be returned to the protesting team only if the protest ruling is in favor of the protest

If participant does not accept delivery of any prize of the time he/she receives notice that such prize is available for delivery to him/her, then that participant shall waive any interest in such prize; and such prize shall become the property of Finnseeker. All prizes not claimed within 30 days and will become property of the tournament and forfeited. Participants have to be present to win.

Any protest must be submitted in person, or by facsimile to (949) 366 8444, in writing, to the FinnSeeker, within 24 hours of the basis for the protest arising.

All Participants must sign and submit the Tournament Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement upon registration for the Tournament and prior to start fishing.

TOURNAMENT MEMO

  10th Annual Dana Point Mako Madness Tournament July 19th - 20th , 2008

The 9th Annual Mako Madness Tournament will undertake the same format as previous years with the following changes recommended by many.

1.    This years tournament will feature the biggest fish winning the overall cash prizes 1st – 3rd places with a min weight for mako’s set at 100 lbs. and a min length of 70 inches.
       We do
not want to see any undersized fish at the scales and would like to emphasize this. Please ensure you know how to measure your mako to determine the approximate
       weight before
brining it in to the scales.

2.    If your mako meets the min length 70 inches but does not meet the min weight we will not disqualify the fish.

3.    The team who releases the most mako’s over the two days will receive a cash reward of $ 3000.00 for their efforts. A tournament camera will be provided for releases.(see
       rules)


4.    There will not be a mandatory polygraph after the event unless requested by the tournament officials or a protest filed by another team ( see rules)

5.    All payouts will be made immediately after the conclusion of the tournament at the awards ceremony. (location still to be announced)

6.    100% cash back and entry fee NO EXPENSES DEDUCTED Jackpot cash payouts will be 100% as in previous years winner takes all.

7.    The entry fee will be divided by the number of entrants and divided by 1-3rd place ( see rules)

9.   Teams may not leave the harbor before 6.00am shotgun start - start fishing 6.00am. there is a 55 mile radius limit from the entrance of Dana Point harbour and your GPS - GPS's will be inspected and required to be 
      kept for verification. Failure to keep the GPS track each day the team will be disqualified.


10.  All mako’s hooked up must be called in on the radio ( no exceptions) if you are out of radio range it’s the team’s and team captains responsibility to relay, phone or establish
       contact with tournament control or your fish will be disqualified. ( see rules)


11.  There is a grid for the tournament. 55 mile radius
